J-Stream has two content delivery platforms: our own CDN (content delivery network) on the Internet, which is our main one; and a delivery platform for mobile use.
CDN, a load distribution network that is very good for streaming and download delivery, particularly for such rich content as Flash and videos, is directly connected to major ISPs and IDCs in Japan as well as small and medium-sized ISPs. It is of the largest scale and has the best video delivery capacity in Japan. The delivery platform for mobile use, which is compatible with the three major carriers in Japan, handles authentication, billing, and delivery. Its enhanced application service is particularly useful for mobile content providers.
This network enables high-quality and steady delivery of rich content, focusing on Flash, Windows Media, RealMedial, and QuickTime, today’s four mainframe media formats. In addition to our regular accessory application service, including Windows Media DRM, through a special license for CDN providers we also handle FlashVideo streaming load distribution for Flash Media Server.
The J-Stream delivery network is equipped with a live feeder called a splitter that is used for live streaming. It enables large-scale Internet live distribution on major streaming formats, including Flash, Windows Media, and RealMedia. It also provides steady, high-quality delivery of live video content for regular use, as opposed to temporary use for events and other such occasions.
In addition to enabling the delivery of rich content, including videos and Flash, to the terminals of three mobile carriers (NTT DoCoMo, Au, and SoftBank), since this also enables billing, authentication, and delivery of music and other digital content, it is a virtual mobile content business platform.
